Procedure

DEADLINE:
March 31, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. The application will close after this date and time. No applications, letters of recommendation, or supplemental materials will be accepted after the application has closed.

SELECTION:

Selections shall be made by the Cascade 4-H Foundation Scholarship Committee. Recipients shall be notified in late April or May.

20%            Community Involvement and School Activities

20%            Essay

PAYMENT:

Payment will be sent to you by July 1st. The check will be made jointly payable to you and your post-secondary institution of your choice, contingent that all requirements are met.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENT CHECKLIST

Applicant must be or have been a Cascade County 4-H member at the time of their high school graduation or equivalent. The following items are required for the application to be considered complete.

  • APPLICATION: Completed on Qualtrics, limiting essay questions to 300 words.
  • TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Two letters of recommendation emailed to Allyssa at [email protected] by either the applicant or the person completing the letter. One letter of recommendation should be written by a 4-H volunteer.
  • CURRENT TRANSCRIPT: A current transcript emailed to Allyssa at [email protected]. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
  • Other: Sanborn and Dear scholarships have other special criteriea. See below.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants may apply for all three scholarships, but can only receive one from the list in the same scholastic year.

  • Cascade 4-H Foundation Scholarship
    • Candidates remain eligible to be scholarship recipients for six years after high school graduation or equivalent.
    • Up to seven scholarships of $500.00 each shall be awarded with priority given to first-time applicants.
    • The scholarship money awarded to repeat recipients will be up to $1,000, allocating the proceeds equitably if fewer people apply than money budgeted.
  • Fred Sanborn Memorial Scholarship
    • One scholarship of $1000.00 will be awarded each year to a qualified applicant.
    • Applicants must have carried 4-H Agricultural projects for at least four years. These projects include beef, dairy, sheep, swine, tractor, plants and soils, range management, and weeds. Self-determined projects or projects developed after July 1, 1983 may or may not qualify. A list of your 4-H Agriculture projects and activities must be included in the application to be considered for this scholarship.
    • Applicant may receive this scholarship only once.
    • Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Douglas & Nancy Dear Memorial Scholarship
    • One scholarship of $500.00 will be awarded each year 2014-2023 to a qualified applicant.
    • Applicant must have carried 4-H Beef Breeding or Market Beef projects for at least three years. Beef related self-determined projects may or may not qualify. A list of your 4-H Beef Breeding or Market Beef projects and activities must be included with the application to be considered for this scholarship.
    • Applicant may receive this scholarship only once.
